Moble payments and there wide useage

Category: the Rant Board

So today, I needed some form of moble payment do to my card miss placed in the apartment some where. After checking apple.com to see what merchant’s except apples payment off to Targget I went with wife in toe. So to my frustration after getting to target, getting set items, I find out no go fore apple pay and someone fibbed to me about target excepting samsung’s pay. No go fore both apple and Samsung, come on people moble pay is here, not going any where businesses step up to the plate already!. Sometimes I really do not have my card on me but one or both of my moble devices will be on my person’s at one or another given time. This is a rant yes, I wish wal-mart would wake-up along with other businesses who are bucking the trinned. Fore us blind users it’s a great way to shop and no need to show someone our card or get help when the reader is having a monthly or weekly moment where something is wrong with the card slot. Lastly, Its quick, keeps the line moving along when there is long lines.

Target technically does accept it via their mobile app, But I've had this same issue trying to use it in store.

I sometimes use mobile payments, but I find all stores, even though they take it, and have the machines, aren't ready for it, or it is not working.
I have gotten Starbucks coffee free, due to this issue.
Mobile payments are good, but have a ways to go.
It seems odd to me that you have gotten so wanting mobile payments to work, that you don't cfarry at least one card in your wallet?

At that time I needed some food and my card was lost in my apartment, so neded moble payment. At this time sense fixed my card issue and I'mm having my bank send me both of my accounts cards.

Just find it frustrating and makes me ponder why some or a lot of main stream businesses want to buck a trin that is not going any where and back buy apple, Google and Samsung.

Oh, found it even funnier that Food Lion was more then happy to embrace moble payment but some targets, Walmart and Haristeeder are ducking it.

The simple fact of the matter is while mobile paying alternatives may be the future, they are not yet widely accepted. If they are accepted at certain places, there might be days where there are bugs in the system that need to be worked out, or people who are currently unfamiliar with the process, because they either were just newly and freshly hired, or because they're old and aren't familiar with some of the more useful bits of modern technology. Therefore, it is rather foolish and naive to assume that you can still go out anywhere without taking an actual physical credit card with you. I have definitely had a lot of amazingly successful days where the system has pleased me, and where I have not had to rummage inside my wallet for that little bit of plastic, but not all of my experiences have been good ones. There have been times when the system wasn't working for whatever reason, and I had to use an actual card.

I imagine that when credit cards first came out back in the day, issues like this were had, and people who were looking forward to switching to minimal or no cash payments were frustrated as well. You have to give it time, and you have to keep a physical copy of the cards on you. I'd wager that the system won't really be perfected to the point where you can trust it enough to not cary a physical copy of your card for at least another five years. Less if the developers of these mobile payment methods develop a more widely accepted system.

That's my beef with technology. They always release it, when it's imperfect.
My problem is when sites don't work, the tech support isn't understandable. I have no issue with where someone's from. However, if you are hired to speak a language, the company needs to make certain those with hearing loss can understand the person.
God Bless,
Sarah

Look for online chat when possible.
That will help you greatly.
Even for the hearing, understanding people with accents is sometimes difficult.
On a web chat, it will be just like here. Written words.

In response to post 8:
You're being way too unrealistic when it comes to the release of new technology. While some of it may be largely untested, you have to also understand that in potentially thousands or even millions of lines of code, there are likely to be errors. These errors cannot all be discovered. Especially with the usual small groups of alpha and beta testers that test that technology. Even in technology that we've had for years, people are still discovering new bugs, new back doors etc. If you're looking for the perfect piece of bug-free tech, you're most likely looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Good luck finding both.

Also these payment systems are cost-prohibitive especially to middle sized to smaller businesses. Large chains have to determine how, when and where to deploy these.
I really did like Square but anymore yu can't check into places with Square anymore.

Anyhow, each system is slightly different and so I find some work with Apple Pay and just let me swipe my phone. Others are probably a better fit, a bit more platform-agnostic, but it means I have to swipe my phone, then ask someone to push debit, then type in my pin on the pin pad. Or just have them push Credit.
One-touch is a really nice idea. One-touch platform-agnostic may still be a bit cost-prohibitive for many places.

Deploying systems of any kind, but especially payment systems, is expensive, time-consuming, and inevitably has problems. The most common of which is not security but failure to perform or performance lag in certain situations.

It will come together and work well, but the people wanting it need to decide on one format.
If not, a company needs to come up with a general machine that can handle them all.
We've got 3 or 4 different systems right now. If I owned a store, I'd not bother unless I had some insintive.

Technically you step up to the counter and use your home button to open your wallet or Apple Pay.
The phone sees you are ready and you have a default card chosen already you wish to pay with.
You can choose other cards, or payment methods in your wallet too.
When you are ready to pay you press your finger to your home button, and your items are purchased.
That's it.

Make sure the finger you press to your home button is the one that you have already registered the fingerprint of on your phone. Otherwise, you're probably going to have some issues. Otherwise, yes. It's pretty much as simple as post 14 suggested, assuming that the system is not on the fritz for whatever reason, or the casheer is poorly trained in using the system.

Right. When it is working, it is slick.
When it isn't, you need your plastic. Lol

And it's a double tap on the home button to start the pay system.
